the haiku circle
Jeannie Martin: Director . . .
Jeannie Martin has been
writing haiku since the late 1990s when she joined the Boston Haiku
Society. The author of several chapbooks of haiku, she has also
published in a number of haiku anthologies and journals. She teaches
haiku in a variety of community settings including the Cambridge
Center for Adult Education, senior centers, nursing homes, and in a
prison where she does haiku with men serving life sentences. She also
leads haiku retreats in places like Oklahoma, North Carolina,
Massachusetts and New Hampshire. In 2013 her book, Clear Water: a
haiku invitation into our luminous, sacred world was published by a
collective in Oklahoma, Red Moon Publications. She is most invested
in bringing haiku to marginalized populations, and is currently
working with formerly homeless older men in Boston. _
